Director of CBHI By definition, the Spinal Cord is “the cylindrical bundle of nerve fibers and associated tissue that is enclosed in the spine and connects nearly all parts of the body to the brain, with which it forms the Central Nervous System.” In essence, it is the most important structure between the body and the brain. Similarly, data functions much like a spinal cord in the healthcare. Pulled from across a variety of diverse sources, data helps health systems derive the level of insight and trends to result in evidence based quality care and policy decision making.

As we move into an increasingly evidence-based health care system, it becomes critical for providers to embrace data for numerous reasons as meaningful data allows informed decisions to improve quality of care and aggregating data from different areas to see a bigger picture. In addition, being able to monitor and analyze clinical data allows facilities to understand where programs are working – and where they need improvement.

An updated and reliable health database is the foundation of decision-making across all healthy system building blocks, and is essential for health system policy development and implementation, governance and regulation, health research, human resources development, health education and training, services delivery and financing. In order to achieve one of the objectives, CBHI collects and analysis data from the health and other relevant sectors, ensuring their overall quality, relevance and timeliness, and converts information for health-related decision making and for stake holders. We believe that the data-powered revolution in health care is well underway and look forward to see how innovations continue to shape and improve patient care.
