FSU Bhubaneshwar (Health Information Field Survey Unit)

  1. Establishment & History of FSU/Training Centre: The Scheme Strengthening of Health Information & monitoring System has been implemented by the Directorate General of Health Service under Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI) during the Sixth Five Year Plan from 1981-82 & established Health Information Field Units each at Regional Offices for Health & Family Welfare, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore & Patna during 1981 to cover the States Odisha, Karnataka & Bihar respectively under Plan scheme & later called as Field Survey Unit. Only the Research Officer was posted by the MOH&FW during October 1981 & other Group ‘C” & “D’ staff were recruited during the year 1983. This unit was introduced to conduct need based Field Studies in Health Sector. CBHI being the National Nodal Institution for Health Statistics in Dte. General of Health Services monitor the work of the Unit. The post of Research Officer has been upgraded to Deputy Director from the year 2000-2001 & Dy. Director has been posted from Indian Statistical Services cadre of MOSPI from time to time. From 2005 this unit has also been entrusted to function as Zonal Training Centre for CBHI for Non-Medical Personnel and from 2014 also for Medical Personnel/Officers. The jurisdiction of this FSU has also been expanded. Apart from Odisha State Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, A&N Islands are under the jurisdiction of this FSU.

 

Functions:

  • Coordinate with the DHS of the allotted State/UTs for timely flow of Health Information System.
  • To carry our Research Studies as & when desired by CBHI/Sr.RD.
  • To function as the Training Centre for ICD-10 & ICF for Non-Medical personnel and also for officers (TOT) separately.
  • For Health Information Management (HIM) for Non-Medical Personnel and also for officers separately
  • MRIM training is also conducted for Non-Medical Personnel.
  • Coordinate with the Health authorities of the allotted States & UT for collection of new innovative policies under HS-PROD entry.
  • To conduct half day workshops on ICD-10 & also for ICF separately.

4). FSU Jaipur (Health Information Field Survey Unit)

  1. About: FSU Jaipur established in the year 1986 functions under the supervision of Senior Regional Director, Regional Office for Health and Family Welfare. FSU Jaipur has 4 States (J&K, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat) and 2 UTs(Delhi and Chandigarh) under its jurisdiction. FSU Jaipur conducts short term in-services training for Health personnel working either in govt./Private Health Institutions and also conduct Half day sensitization workshop in order to promote the use of ICD-10 and ICF for mortality and Morbidity coding in different medical colleges under the jurisdiction of FSU Jaipur.
